8K mirror finish, also known as No.8 finish, is the highest grade of mechanical polish applied to stainless steel. It produces a highly reflective, mirror-like surface with no visible grain direction — specified wherever a true mirror appearance is required, from elevator cabins to architectural feature panels.
Conventional wide-belt polishing lines create directional grain because the abrasive belt moves in a single linear direction. The rotary disc system developed by GLORY MACHINERY takes a different approach: multiple rotating disc heads fitted with abrasive media spin while traversing across the surface, producing overlapping polishing paths that eliminate directional grain and build a uniform mirror finish.
Compared with oscillating 8K systems — which move abrasive heads in a reciprocating linear motion — the rotary approach produces a non-directional mirror with fewer visible start-stop marks and more stable pressure control across the full width. Controlled disc pressure and rotation also improve process stability and reduce abrasive consumable cost compared with conventional mirror polishing methods.
A representative configuration is the 1300 type automatic sheet-to-sheet 8K mirror polishing line, designed for discrete-sheet production. GLORY MACHINERY also supplies coil-to-coil 8K mirror polishing lines for continuous processing of stainless steel coil. Final machine configuration, process capability and performance targets are project-specific.
